At the age of 3 my mother enrolled me in a ballet class for socialization and grace. My mom could not understand how it was easy to dance but a challenge to walk. This was the beginning of my dance career. By the age of 6 years, I added Jazz and Tap to my repertoire with the late and great Fleurette Kramer. I studied with her till I was 18 years of age perfecting my art of dance and along the way acquiring certifications to teach Ballet, Jazz and Tap. Mrs. Kramer also taught me the art of Hawaiian Dance and Pointe. During my teens I wanted to extend my dance repertoire and dance experience. I went to open classes in downtown Toronto at various studios. I attended Randolph, Metro Movements, City Dance Corps to name a few. At 17 I was introduced to the Latin and American world of dance. I fell in love with this new music and new rhythms. After a couple of years I decided to compete and teach in both styles of dance. I attended Star light Challenge, placing 1st in my division with dances of Hustle, Salsa, Cha-cha and Fox trot.
During my ascent through the dance world my parents tried to dissuade from this career path. I decided to apply to George Brown College and attained my Early Childhood Education Diploma. When I graduated my father presented me with the newspaper circled for an Early Childhood Education job. It was really a blessing in disguise. Two months after graduation I was the Assistant Supervisor at St. Georges School Age Childcare program. After one year in the field, I decided to attend George Brown College to attain another Diploma as Supervisor of Early Childhood Education.
The School did not stop there… I was hungry for more education, so I enrolled in the Fitness and Lifestyle Management Course at Humber College. This course required affiliation with CEPT and Canfitpro. I also attain my Personal Training, Fitness Instructor Specialist and Nutrition and Wellness Certifications.
Below are all the Certifications and Licences I have acquired over the past 17 years being in the field of Fitness, Dance and Early Childhood Education:
